Architecture Competition for Students

  CZECH REPUBLIC AND SLOVAKIA
  The results of the First competition among students of architecture on Creative Use of Natural Stone in the Czech Republic are -

First Prize:
Competition project titled I - Centre for Prague 7, made by Ing. Arch. Jan TESAR, university student of Doctoral study of the Faculty of Architecture CTU in Prague (Ing. Arch. Jan Tesar, Na Rozdílu 719/26, 160 00 Prague 6, jan.tesar@centrum.cz).

Details of project -
The building acccepts the classic function of city hall includes also areas for culture and social activities. Behind the white facade from travertine which is composed in rhythm of bar code is covered the building of the Centre with aluminium facade ventilated from behind. The project endeavours to restore the lost identity of the square to the locality with the help of using of marble paving cubes (which is the typical surface of Prague public spaces) in all public areas.

The jury appreciated an imaginative and original solution of the building including its "high class", an interesting city planning conception and also a creative use of natural stone, both on cladding and in communication parts of public areas of building.

  Second Prize:
Competition project titled City Hall for Prague 10, made by Tomáš LIVNANSKÝ , university student of the Faculty of Architecture CTU in Prague (Tomáš Livnanský , Spojencu 888, 542 32 Úpice, livna@centrum.cz).

Details of project -
The project is supposed to eliminate the current subway-vestibule and to construct a new one, new tram-line and new square where the parterre of city hall building will be opened.

In this competition project the jury found interesting the detailed technical and technological solution of building including detailed solution of facade cladding from white Jura limestone which gives the impressive appearance to the building and the effort for maximum extent to use natural stone.
